The operating room (OR) is a sterile, organized environment. Members of the surgical team work hard to coordinate their efforts to ensure the safety and care of their patients. The surgical team is in charge of the OR and makes decisions regarding patient care procedures. The OR environment has sterile and non-sterile areas, as well as sterile and non-sterile personnel. Sterile personnel are the surgeons, surgical assistant and scrub nurse, while the non-sterile personnel are the anesthesiologist, circulating staff, technologist and observer. There are specific requirements for all health care professionals entering the OR to minimize the spread of microorganisms and maintain sterility of the OR environment.
The Palawan Medical Mission Group Multipurpose Cooperative has three (3) Operating rooms and one (1) Delivery Room. We are catering different surgeries for out-patient and in –patients. Elective surgeries are usually performed from 8am-5pm every day. Urgent/Emergent surgery can be performed at any time of the day or night, depending on the needs of our patient.
